Shopping in Malibu

April 04, 2012

Many luxury beach homes in Malibu are conveniently located within walking distance to upscale retail shopping areas. The most popular of these shopping centers include Malibu Country Mart, Malibu Colony Plaza, and Malibu Lumber Yard.

Located on 6 acres in Malibu’s Civic Center, Malibu Country Mart is half a block off the Pacific Coast Highway. Known for its chic shopping and sophisticated dining, Malibu County Mart is home to world-class gardens, unique sculptures, outdoor dining, picnic areas, and a children’s playground.  The high-end shopping center possesses a unique blend of Mediterranean, modern and rustic architectural style. Malibu Country Mart has been featured in many regional and national publications including Travel + Leisure Magazine, 805 Living Magazine, LA Confidential Magazine, Haute Living Magazine, Vanity Fair, and the New York Times.

In the heart of Malibu’s Civic Center lies Malibu Colony Plaza. This open-air shopping center features Mediterranean style architecture with terracotta roofs. Malibu Colony Plaza has beautifully landscaped, palm-tree lined walkways. Located a few blocks away from the famous residential community of Malibu Colony, the plaza provides its patrons with a perfect mix of upscale dining, retail and services.

Malibu Lumber Yard is a two-story shopping center that was built on the grounds of an old lumber yard. As a tribute to this, the entire exterior of Malibu Lumber Yard features beautiful hardwood. The contemporary shopping center is unique in the fact that it is home to the largest, completely free-standing aquariums in Los Angeles.  On weekends, Malibu Lumber Yard provides live musical entertainment on their outdoor wooden stage.
